  • Medrano Jr Racing/L&W Motorworks Outlaw Prostreet
  • Ralph Medrano arrived at Rockingham Dragway for the 5th stop of the famed MiRock race series. Medrano is in his fifth start as an Outlaw Prostreet Racer. He is part of the juggernaut L&W motorworks team. Medrano has blindsided the competition. Past champion and veteran racer at 25, won his first championship at the age of 15. Medrano has his eyes set on another championship. He is currently ranked in the top four in points in the MiRock Outlaw Prostreet Race series. The Medrano Jr/L&W team started qualifying on a sour note spinning the whole way down the track but still posting a 7.31. After replacing the tire for the next round Medrano left the line with a sharp .002 light and posted a quicker 7.26 placing him in the top half of the ladder. During the last session Medrano stole the show for the NOS bikes posting the quickest ever pass of a NOS powered Outlaw with a 7.09@191mph. That run was good for the second spot behind Rodney Williford. Medrano’s first round opponent Brandon Farlow broke at the line sending Medrano to the next round. During the second round Medrano squared off against fellow L&W team mate Robbie “Superman” Hunicutt. Hunicutt turned on the red giving Medrano the automatic win. Due to the odd number of bikes Medrano got a bye into the finals. On the other side of the ladder lurked the Pro 1 bike of Rodney Williford the quickest no bar bike on the planet. Williford was on a collision course with Medrano. Medrano and crew chief Dan Wagnor had not pulled the tank off the bike for the whole event. Dan builds some of the most reliable bike in the world” stated Medrano. We had to step it up for the finals stated Dan. Dan went on to say “We have the baddest ride with NOS but we had to lean on it a little bit when you have a guy like Williford in the other lane”. The quickest no bar NOS bike versus the quickest no bar turbo bike. The fans at MiRock were in for a treat. Medrano left first with a .027 light to Williford .038 at the eighth mile mark the race was a dead heat. The boards lit up, Williford 7.10@196.07 to Medrano 7.11@192.60 a win loss margin of only .0029 thousandths of a second. With this runner up finish Medrano is currently 4th in points. “My goal is to be the first NOS Outlaw in the six second zone and a top three finish” stated Medrano. I have the best in the business in Dan Wagner and feel we are a threat at every race we attend.

  • 11-07-2006:ROCKINGHAM, N.C. Astride a turbo charged Suzuki that's headed to extinction in the MiRock Superbike Series, Rodney Williford tries to end the abbreviated Turbo Era on a positive note this week when he sends his 200 mile-an-hour hybrid after the Outlaw Pro Street title in the Lee's Fall Bike Nationals at Rockingham Dragway. Heavily-favored to claim his third consecutive victory in the MiRock Series and, with it, the 2006 Schnitz Outlaw Pro Street championship, Williford nevertheless will face challenges from reigning MiRock champion Tony Girardi of Hollywood, Fla., rising star Ralph Medrano Jr. of Miami, Fla., and Angie McBride of Lewisville, N.C.

  • 11-13-2006: RECORDS FALL, CHAMPIONS CROWNED IN FINAL MIROCK SERIES EVENT

Ralph Medrano Jr. of Miami spoiled the going away party for Rodney Williford and his turbocharged Suzuki Sunday, beating the MiRock Superbike Series champion in the final round of the Lee's Performance Fall Bike Nationals at Steve Earwood's Rockingham Dragway.
  • The turbo Suzuki, owned by Jeff Nordeen of Simpsonville, S.C., and ridden by Williford, won't be eligible to participate in the Outlaw Pro Street division under new MiRock guidelines adopted for the 2007 season.

Williford, the Rougemont, N.C., rider who had won two consecutive MiRock races to ice the championship, wasn't his usual dominating self at the Fall Nationals. Although he lowered the Rockingham Dragway and national records to 6.918 seconds during qualifying, he wasn't able to come close to that time during eliminations.

That said, he was good enough to reach the final round, beating distaff rider and two-time MiRock series winner Angie McBride of Lewisville in the semifinals. In the final, though, Medrano never trailed, using a 7.022 second time at 193.57 miles per hour to best Williford's ailing 7.190 at only 167.61 mph.
