MIROCK Outlaw Pro Street Class Description

Outlaw Pro Street is a professional heads-up class that was conceived to provide a competitive venue for the fastest production-based no wheelie bar bikes in the country. Motorcycles in this class will have been originally born as showroom factory super bikes, but have since been transformed into all-out dedicated quarter mile racing machines. However, the bikes factory heritage is still visible. With exotic nitrous oxide systems and monster motors, these wild machines run in the low 7-second range at speeds of 200mph with no wheelie bars. The Outlaw riders have been named the baddest motorcycle riders on the planet; by their peers, as they have contradicted physics and have done the impossible.

The Outlaw Pro Street class is a series of 7 events run at Rockingham Dragway and Maryland International Raceway. At each event, riders are tracked by a points system that could make them the next Outlaw Pro Street World Champion. All events will hold qualifying on Saturday to get a qualified 16-bike field with qualifying and eliminations run on a .400 pro tree.

Outlaw Pro Street Rules

SERIES: 7 event points series run at Rockingham Dragway and Maryland International Raceway.
DESIGNATION: All entrants must display, on both sides of the bike, the class designation OPS, preceded by rider number. Sub-class designation (such as OPS/N for nitrous entrants) is optional, but not required.

CLASS DESCRIPTION: Outlaw Pro Street was conceived to provide a competitive venue for the fastest production-based no wheelie bar bikes in the country. Motorcycles in this class will have been originally born as showroom factory super bikes, but have since been transformed into all-out dedicated quarter mile racing machines. The bikes factory heritage should still be readily visible, but no equipment necessary for street operation is required.

FORMAT: Races will be a qualified 16-bike field. Qualifying and eliminations will be heads-up, run on a .400 pro tree, with all pro class rules in effect. If any bike is unable to make the first round call, alternates will be allowed to take their place in the ladder, with the first alternate to be the quickest non-qualified legal entrant. Alternates must have completed at least one legal qualifying attempt to be eligible for alternate status. Any rider that does not qualify for the class will be permitted to run Pro E.T. at no charge.

BODY: Gas tanks are required on all bikes, and must resemble a production tank in both location and style. Tanks may be lowered, lengthened, or otherwise altered, but must generally maintain original overall appearance, size, and shape. Tanks need not be functional. In addition to gas tanks, rear bodywork/seat sections are required. Rear bodywork may be extended, but must maintain general overall appearance and shape of original bodywork. Seat may be lowered, but must remain in the same general location as the factory seat. One-piece bodies are allowed. Front fairings and/or headlight buckets are not required, but are legal. If used, front bodywork should closely resemble factory bodywork in size and shape. No aerodynamic devices, such as wings, fairings, or air dams, may be used, unless originally equipped. Engine air inlets or scoops may be added.

FRONT FENDER: Front fenders are required for all entrants. Fender does not have to be an exact duplicate of original fender, but it must be of a style that suitably matches the bike and bodywork.

BRAKES: Front and rear hydraulic brakes are required. All brake systems must be properly adjusted, and must be fully functional.

CHAIN GUARDS: Chain guards are required on all entries.

ELECTRICAL: Any ignition or electrical systems allowed, including nitrous progressives, boost controllers, fuel injection controllers, and data acquisition systems.

DATA ACQUISITION: No front wheel speed sensors or third wheel speed sensors allowed. Rear-wheel speed sensors, both directly measured and those derived from countershaft or other shaft speed sensors, may be used for information gathering only. Rear-wheel speed data may not be used to active or deactivate any electrical or mechanical devices. No devices which measure performance, on-track location, the Christmas tree, or any other part of the track or timing system, are allowed.

TRACTION CONTROL: No traction control or wheelie control systems allowed. No type of electrical or measuring devices may be mounted to or activated by any part of the front or rear suspension.

KILL SWITCHES: Tether kill switches required on all entrants. Kill switch, when activated, must disable ignition, fuel pump(s) and nitrous system solenoids.

ENGINES: Any engine originally used in a production motorcycle may be used. Approved aftermarket engine cases are allowed. A single power adder may be used. Any type of power adders, including nitrous, turbos, or superchargers are allowed.

CLUTCH: Slider clutches are allowed on all normally-aspirated, supercharged, and nitrous entrants, and some turbocharged entrants. "Slider Clutches" are defined as any clutch system which utilizes only engine-driven centrifugal force to engage the clutch. Any bike not allowed to use a slider must use a clutch system with spring preloaded force to initially engage the clutch.

TRANSMISSIONS: Automatic transmissions are allowed on all normally-aspirated, supercharged, and nitrous entrants, and some turbocharged entrants.

FRAME: Factory OEM frames must be used, no aftermarket frames will be allowed. Any brackets, tabs, braces, mounts, gussets, seat rails, etc. may be moved, modified, replaced, or removed. Steering neck angle may altered, but must remain in original location. Rake may not exceed 40 degrees. Neck may be replaced with aftermarket neck. Subframe and/or seat rails may be modified, but seat must remain in the original forward/aft location. Seat may be lowered, but must have a minimum height from the ground of 20 inches. This measurement will be made with rider on bike and padding compressed. No modifications to main frame or engine cradle will be allowed, except as noted otherwise. On factory perimeter-style frames (including, but not limited to, Suzuki GS, oil-cooled GSXR, water-cooled GSXR, and Kawasaki KZ), engine cradle tubes must remain intact and unmodified; i.e. no cutting, sectioning, splicing, relocating etc. allowed. "Engine cradle tubes" will be defined as the tubes which connect to the steering neck, pass down the front and under the motor, back up behind the motor, and across the top of the motor, reconnecting to the steering neck and/or front downtubes. On steel frames, main backbone tube may be replaced with a tube of larger diameter to facilitate the installation of a backbone fuel cell. On factory spar-style frames (including most modern sportbikes), main frame spars must remain intact and unmodified. "Main frame spars" are defined as the large formed tubes which connect the steering neck, engine mounts and swingarm pivot.

ENGINE SWAPS: Limited modifications to the stock frame will be allowed for the sole purpose of interchanging engine types. These modifications will be limited to the absolute minimum required for the swap. Modifications intended for the purpose of improved weight distribution are strictly disallowed. Race tech has final ruling on this issue, and pre-approval is required.

STARTING SYSTEMS: On-board starting systems required. No external starters, batteries, or boosters allowed. No push-starts.

SWINGARMS: Swingarm-style rear suspension required, no fully welded tail-sections allowed. Any stock, modified stock, or aftermarket swingarms will be allowed. Swingarm pivot location may be moved, but must be within 2 inches of original factory location. Pivot axle diameter may be enlarged. Bikes with working rear suspension are allowed any type suspension system, as long as it utilizes a conventional-style single front pivot. Bikes with solid rear suspension must utilize a bolt-on swingarm, with a conventional style front pivot bolt or bolts. Swingarm may not be welded to the frame in any manner. Swingarm may be attached to the frame and/or subframe, utilizing struts or braces, at a maximum of 6 points, not including the pivot bolt(s).

SUSPENSION: Rear suspension optional. Rigid front forks not allowed, a minimum of 1.5 inches of front suspension travel recommended. Steering dampers recommended, and may be required in the future. All components, including bodywork, must have a minimum of 2 inches ground clearance. Measurements will be taken with rider seated on bike, hands on handlebars, and feet forward with heels only contacting the ground.

TIRES: Motorcycle tires only, no car tires on rear. DOT or racing slicks allowed, maximum width 7 inches.

WHEELBASE: Maximum wheelbase varies depending on sub-class. There is no over tolerance allowed. Wheelbase will be measured with rider sitting on bike.

GENERAL SAFETY: All riders must have full leathers (zipped together leathers are recommended and may be mandatory in future). All riders must have a SNELL 95 or higher full-face helmet with shield, leathers gloves, and shoes above the ankle. Revised : 05/03/06 All bikes must utilize either a ballistic blanket, or a fully sealed belly pan with a minimum lip of 1 inch, and of sufficient volume to contain the entire contents of the crankcase.

NITROUS BOTTLES: Bottles must be fully enclosed within the bodywork and/or frame rails. Bottles may not be externally mounted to foot pegs, swingarms, etc.

MINIMUM WEIGHT: Minimum weight for all entrants with a power adder is 590 lbs for bike and rider, weight to be measured at beginning or end of the run. There is no minimum weight for naturally aspirated entrants. All ballast must be securely mounted. No ballast can be mounted to any part of the front suspension (i.e., no ballast can be mounted to triple clamps, forks, or axle). Ballast is defined as any component attached to any part of the motorcycle, whose sole purpose is to add weight to the motorcycle. Any component, regardless of weight, which serves a structural or mechanical function, is not considered to be ballast. i.e.; As a general reference, if the component in question can be removed without affecting any mechanical functions of the motorcycle, or decreasing structural integrity of the motorcycle, it is considered ballast. If, however, removing a given component would cause a failure within some mechanical system (such as the wheel rolling or the brakes working) that component is considered to not be ballast. MIROCK does, however, reserve the right to deem any non-ballast component to be illegal, if its excessive weight creates a safety hazard. Front suspension components, including axles, wheels and brakes, may not be filled with any non-structural material, including lead. Tires may not be filled with any liquid or solid materials.

SUB-CLASS DESIGNATIONS: In order to keep a level playing field for all entrants and all forms of power-adders, there are several sub-class designations. All sub-class rules are subject to adjustment, at any time during the season, if MIROCK officials determine that one sub-class has a distinct advantage or disadvantage. All entrants must declare, at the time of registration, which sub-class they are running. All tech inspections will be based on the sub-class given at registration. If, for any reason, including an equipment change, a contestant desires to change sub-classes after registration, they must officially notify MIROCK tech of the change, prior to making any competition passes. If tech is not notified, all subsequent tech inspections will be based on the sub-class, which is officially listed, and disqualification could result.

NORMALLY ASPIRATED: Entrants running under this designation may not have any nitrous-related components on the bike, even if they are deactivated. No nitrous may be contained on any bottles or tanks on the motorcycle. Entrants utilizing no form of power adders run under the following designation:

**OPS/A: For normally-aspirated entrants. Maximum wheelbase is 75 inches. Slider clutches allowed. Auto transmissions allowed.

NITROUS INJECTED: Nitrous entrants may use any type of nitrous injection system, with any number of stages. Nitrous entrants run under the following class designation:

**OPS/N: For nitrous oxide-injected entrants. Maximum wheelbase is 75 inches. Slider clutches allowed. Auto transmissions allowed.

SUPERCHARGERS: Entrants utilizing engine-driven superchargers are limited to a displacement of 1370cc, and will run under the following designation:

**OPS/S: Intended for engine-driven supercharger-equipped entrants. Maximum wheelbase is 75 inches. Slider clutches allowed. Auto transmissions allowed.
